F1 Bahrain GP 2007

It’s almost a month now and I know its too late for a review but I have an excuse. I was really very busy with my college assignments to be able to write any review. I will however, try and give a small account on what happened at the 2007 Bahrain Grand Prix. I’ll try to keep it as limited as possible giving out just the major details and factors which unfolded that weekend.

It’s not a news any more that Felipe Massa took the pole and was the eventual winner at that very Grand Prix. This makes it 3 out of 3 poles and 2 out of 3 wins for Ferrari. Kimi came in 3rd which made it a 1-3 for Ferrari. McLaren’s Fernando Alonso had a very tough time indeed. After being chased by Kimi for much of the afternoon and overtaken by BMW’s Nick Heidfeld, he managed to cross the line in 5th position. His team-mate, Lewis Hamilton performed another stunner and secured another 2nd place for his team. Nick finished in 4th place.

After this round, McLaren are still leading the Constructors Championship with 44 points followed by Ferrari with 39 and BMW with 18. In the Driver’s Championship, it looks like a four horse race this season. The victory for Massa will do wonders for his title challenge. The points table has three guys (Alonso, Kimi and Hamilton) on top with 22 points each followed closely by Massa with 17 points.

Next race weekend starts tomorrow at Spain and the fact that it will take place after almost a month’s break, makes this event even more special for the F1 fans. The teams had a test at the same circuit very recently during the break. Most teams have had new updates to their cars in an attempt to make it faster. Ferrari has made the biggest number of changes and have reportedly opened up 1 second gap to McLaren. Kimi is also said to have found an answer to his problems. Its all waiting to unfold this weekend.
