Firstly, apologies for another delayed review! Kimi Raikkonen stunned the British fans by clinching his second consecutive win for Ferrari while they were expecting their local hero, Lewis to triumph. On Saturday, everything seemed to be on plan for the young Brit when he secured another pole in his short career. As the race unfolded on Sunday, it was an entirely different story, obviously, not scripted by Hamilton or McLaren. He finished the race in 3rd, his 9th consecutive podium of this season.
Raikkonen missed the pole by a whisker as he ran wide in the final corner. He started the race from 2nd on the grid alongside Alonso. Massa was all set to start from 4th until a catastrophe relegated him to 22nd on the grid. From there on, Massa did the best he could. He had to overtake almost the entire field on his way to 5th. In the meanwhile, Kimi was able to keep up with the McLarens and delivered the goods when it mattered. It took him a pit-stop to overtake each of those two McLarens of Hamilton and Alonso. From there on, it was a clean run all the way to the checkered flag.
Alonso managed to keep his team-mate behind on his way to 2nd. Robert Kubica finished 4th and provided another good showing for his team BMW. After this race, the championship has heated up immensely and is expected to produce a lot more twists and turns before the end. Kimi jumped his team mate by 1 point and is now 3rd in the driver’s table with 52 points. Hamilton still leads with 70 points from his team mate Alonso by 12 points. In the constructor’s table, McLaren on 128 points leads Ferrari by 25 points.
